Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure which massage is right for you? Here are the questions we’re asked most often. If yours isn’t here, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll be happy to help.

What happens during a massage?
Your therapist starts by asking about your symptoms, muscle tightness and activity level. They warm up the muscles with gentle strokes, then apply focused pressure to tight or knotted areas, followed by assisted stretches to improve flexibility. The session ends with calming techniques to ease soreness, plus simple aftercare tips on hydration, stretching and recovery.

Which massage should I choose?

  • Sports or deep tissue massage: for tight muscles, training recovery or desk-related tension.
  • Balinese or hot stone massage: for stress, fatigue and deep relaxation.
  • Pregnancy massage: for comfort and relaxation during pregnancy.
  • Foot reflexology: for relaxation and overall wellbeing.
  • Detoxifying massage: for feeling heavy, puffy or fatigued.

If you’re not sure, tell us how you’re feeling when you book and we’ll recommend the right treatment.

What’s the difference between sports massage and deep tissue massage?
Both work deeply into the muscles. Sports massage focuses on recovery, flexibility and performance for active people, often with stretching, while deep tissue massage targets long-standing tension and tightness, such as from desk work or stress.

Does deep tissue massage hurt?
It can feel firm, and you may feel a little sore for a day or two afterwards, much like after a workout. Your therapist will always check the pressure with you and adjust it to your comfort.

Can massage help with a sports injury?
Massage can help ease tight, overworked muscles and support your recovery. For a new or painful injury, we recommend seeing an osteopath first to assess what’s going on, then adding massage to your plan. Find out more about our sports injury treatment.

Can massage help with back or neck pain?
Massage can relieve muscle tension that contributes to back and neck pain, especially from long hours at a desk. For ongoing or severe pain, we recommend combining it with osteopathy. Find out more about our back pain treatment and neck pain treatment.

Is massage safe during pregnancy?
Yes, our pregnancy massage uses safe, specialised techniques and comfortable positioning adapted to each stage of pregnancy. Let us know how far along you are when you book. Find out more about our pregnancy massage.

Can I combine massage with osteopathy?
Yes, and many clients do. Osteopathy treats the cause of pain and restores movement, while massage releases muscle tension and supports recovery between sessions.

What should I wear?
You’ll be draped with towels throughout and only the area being treated is uncovered. For sports massage, you’re welcome to wear shorts or bring comfortable clothing.

What should I do after a massage?
Drink plenty of water, keep moving gently and avoid intense exercise for the rest of the day. Your therapist will give you personalised aftercare advice.

Is massage covered by insurance?
Some health insurance plans cover massage therapy. Check your policy, and our team can provide receipts for your claim.

Where are massages available?
At our Central clinic, at 6/F, 15 On Lan Street, and our Stanley clinic, at G/F, 120 Stanley Main Street.
